Week 29 - Tim White - For Such a Time as This

Finding Purpose in the Chaos

Hey everyone! Today, I want to share a powerful message inspired by the story of Esther from the Old Testament. It’s a beautifully short, 10-chapter book set back in the Persian Empire that perfectly illustrates how God works behind the scenes, even when we don't think He is.

If you aren't familiar with the story, here is a quick recap:

After the Persian king banishes his queen, a young Jewish girl named Esther is chosen to take her place. She had been raised by her cousin Mordecai after her parents passed away. Esther keeps her heritage a secret inside the palace on Mordecai’s advice. Things take a dark turn when an arrogant royal adviser named Haman—who deeply hated the Jewish people—convinces the king to issue a decree authorizing the extermination of all Jews on a specific date.

Mordecai pleads with Esther to intercede, a terrifying and life-threatening task since approaching the king uninvited could mean execution. He famously challenges her by saying, "Who knows whether you have come to the kingdom for such a time as this." After three days of prayer and fasting, Esther bravely steps forward, exposes Haman's evil plot, and ultimately saves her people.

This story leaves us with a powerful truth to hold onto. When we look at the world around us today, it is easy to see the chaos, division, and hatred and feel completely hopeless. You might even ask yourself, "Why am I here? Was I born in the wrong era?"

I want to assure you: you were not. It is no accident that we are here in 2026. The Creator of the universe placed each and every one of us here on purpose and gave us a specific calling before we were even born.

You and I were born for such a time as this. God has a good plan, and He will provide the strength and courage you need to accomplish whatever He has called you to do. If you don't know what your calling is yet, I encourage you to seek Him, ask Him, and pursue it with all your might. Have the best day ever!
