Week 33 - Tim White - His Mercies Are New Every Morning

I want to share a powerful verse from Lamentations 3:22-23 (ESV) that has been on my heart: "The steadfast love of the Lord never ceases; his mercies never come to an end; they are new every morning; great is your faithfulness."

This passage always brings to mind the story of the Israelites wandering through the wilderness after leaving Egypt. When they were hungry and asked for food, God provided them with manna. However, His provision came with a specific instruction: only collect what you can use for that single day. The only exception was the day before the Sabbath, when they were allowed to gather enough for two days so they wouldn't have to work on their day of rest.

In my own humanness, I know I would have wanted to gather a whole truckload of manna to last me a week. But God chose to provide for them day by day, telling them He would take care of today and they could worry about tomorrow when it comes.

Reflecting on this made me realize how often I struggle with my own issues. Even though I have the "head knowledge" that God is faithful and His mercies are new daily, I still find myself worrying about what is coming up next week. In those moments, I feel the Lord telling me to just be still because He is working behind the scenes. I don't need tomorrow's mercies today; I will need them when tomorrow arrives.

Whatever you are facing today, I encourage you to remember that you only need His mercy for right now. When tomorrow morning comes, His mercies will be brand new and ready for whatever you need. He loves you so much, He will never give up on you, and He is going to take care of you.

A Prayer for Our Day:

Heavenly Father, thank you that your mercies are new every single day and that you take care of us. You love us more than we could ever imagine, and we are so thankful. I pray your blessings over everyone reading this—that you will meet their needs in the mighty name of Jesus. Amen.
