Each Week Something from the Bible

It began in early in 2020, one member of the management team chooses a ‘scripture of the week’ to share with the company. This week Nate Smith, VP of Operations, chose Joshua 5:13-15.

The Lord’s Commander Confronts Joshua -- Joshua 5:13-15 (NLT)

"When Joshua was near the town of Jericho, he looked up and saw a man standing in front of him with a sword in hand. Joshua went up to him and demanded, “Are you friend or foe?”  “Neither one,” he replied. “I am the commander of the Lord’s army.” At this, Joshua fell with his face to the ground in reverence. “I am at your command,” Joshua said. “What do you want your servant to do?”  The commander of the Lord’s army replied, “Take off your sandals, for the place where you are standing is holy.” And Joshua did as he was told."

Here are some comments from Nate on how the scripture spoke to him:

Give all your worries and cares to God, for he cares about you.

This passage is so powerful to me, realizing the physical manifestation of the "Commander of the Lord's Army" is in fact Christ. Christ himself before Joshua -- Joshua asserting his own prowess and authority as a commander realizes that the figure in front of him is far above the current conflict, but is about a greater work -- for advancing God's kingdom and His own glory.  It reminds me that we often want Jesus to "join our side" or be about what we want to advance in our own lives (even good things!).  The truth is there is a much greater work that God himself is doing, and we get to join him in his work, his priorities.  We get to join Jesus as the Commander of the Lord's Army in his work. We can be sure he is still working as he said in John 5:17 -- "my Father is working until now, and I am working."

Along with focusing on one scripture a week, the management team prays specifically for two employees.

We also pray for others and would invite you to submit your requests; they will be voiced to God by our team.
